Tricycle First-Year Maintenance: Parts, Schedule and Cost Control

A three-wheeler is a working asset. The first year sets the maintenance habit: what gets checked, when, and which parts are worth stocking before the vehicle arrives. This plan is based on standard three-wheeler service practice and applies to most gasoline, diesel and electric models in the WeldSen range.

Why the first year matters

New vehicles settle in. Fasteners seat, brakes bed in, and the operator learns the machine. A documented first-year schedule catches small issues before they become downtime — and downtime is the expensive part, not the part itself.

Month 1: delivery checks

On arrival, verify the model plate and vehicle identification against the invoice. Check tyre pressure, battery terminals, fluid levels (for combustion models) and all lights. If CKD or SKD, follow the assembly checklist and torque critical fasteners after the first day of use.

Routine service: every 1,000–2,000 km or monthly

Engine oil and filter (combustion), brake adjustment, chain or drive inspection, wheel and fastener check. For electric models: battery charge routine, connector inspection, brake and tyre checks. Keep a simple log — it also helps when ordering the next unit.

Quarterly checks

Suspension and bushings, steering play, brake linings, electrical connections, and body fasteners. On cargo units, inspect the deck and hinge points; on self-dumping beds, check the lifting mechanism. Replace worn consumables before they fail on route.

First-year parts kit

A practical kit covers what a working fleet replaces in the first year: filters, brake linings, clutch parts, cables, bulbs, tyres and tubes, plus electrical spares matched to the model. One kit per five units is a common starting point; the exact list is itemized against the model record on the proforma invoice.

Cost control

Plan for consumables, not surprises. Set aside a small running-cost budget per unit per month. The biggest cost risks in year one are unplanned repairs from skipped checks and downtime from missing spares — both are avoidable with a schedule and a stocked kit.
