Displacement is not about “bigger is better” — it is about matching power to what your customers actually carry, on the roads they actually drive.

150CC: urban delivery and light farm work

Best suited to flat cities and paved town roads carrying loads up to roughly 500 kg. Lower purchase price, excellent fuel economy and easier maintenance make 150cc the volume seller in dense urban delivery fleets. If your market is city courier work or market-goods transport, start here.

200CC: the all-round workhorse

The most popular class across African markets. Handles 800 kg–1 ton payloads, tolerates rougher rural roads, and still keeps fuel costs reasonable. Water-cooled variants sustain long hill climbs and hot climates better than air-cooled versions. For mixed urban-plus-rural operations, 200cc covers the widest range of customer needs.

250CC and above: heavy haulage and hills

Choose this class when typical payloads exceed one ton, routes include sustained gradients, or the vehicle doubles as light construction equipment. Expect higher fuel consumption and a higher unit price, justified by longer service life under heavy loads.

Questions to answer before ordering

• What is the heaviest realistic load, not the brochure maximum?
• Are the main roads paved, gravel or dirt?
• Ambient temperature range — does it justify water cooling?
• Do local regulations classify engines above a certain cc differently?
